Well I’ve been back from vacation for three weeks now and caught up for the most part at the office, some here are some thoughts:
Last Fight Card
Congrats to Walter Wright on his hard fought ten round victory over Calvin Odom. Walt was in the best condition of his life thanks to the hard work of his nutritionist and conditioning coach, David Grisaffi. Odom came to fight and we knew he had lots of power. Kudos to Mathis Hill, Walt’s trainer, for once again having a great fight plan. This was Walt’s eighth win in a row ad the crowd was on their feet.
David Torres fought a very tough Mike Lucero. Don’t be fooled by Lucero’s record (9-9-1), he is a tenacious fighter and much better than his record indicates. David is now undefeated with 10 wins and 7 KO’s.
And what can I say about our 18-year-old phenom, Roger Cantrell? 3-0, 3 KO’s and yet to see a second round. Lots of big things coming from this kid.
The Concerts
Eric Burdon and The Animals will play the EQC I-5 Showroom on November 11. Tickets are going strong. I have withheld some VIP $50.00 gold row tickets for our website fans. Call our office (253) 564-2090 if you are interested.
Alice Cooer has already sold out the gold row and about 70% of the venue for his October date. We haven’t advertised that much yet, so if you want your tickets, get ‘em quick because they’ll sell out quickly once the radio and TV ads start.
CONCERT ALERT: AMERICA PLAYING OCTOBER 15 @ EQC
We have just signed America (“A Horse with No Name,” “Ventura Highway,” “Sandman”) to play the Emerald Queen on October 15. The tickets go on sale this Labor Day weekend. We’ve had them come to the Queen before, and they always put on a fantastic show.
Upcoming Fight Card
Walter Wright and Billy Lyell; David Torres vs. Andrew Marquez; Nate Smith vs. Matt Blake; Leo Bercier vs. Kevin Reynolds are all set to go. We also have Roger Cantrell and one of the top female boxers in the country on our card, Molly McConnell, however they both have reputations as tough fighters and we’ve yet to find opponents for them.
Many people, including the media, thought our last fight was the best of the year. We always try to match good fights and I think we’ve got some real toe-to-toe battles coming up on the September 17th show.
WE WANT YOUR FEEDBACK
Is there a Rock and Roll act from the 60’s, 70’s or 80’s that you would like to see at the Emerald Queen? Email us and let us know and we’ll see if we can put something together.
Talk to you soon.

I'm on vacation all this week with my wife and kids up in Mt. Vernon for my daughter's softball tournament.
I know many of you have been coming to the website looking for results from the fight, and unfortunately the woman who normally updates are website has left the company, so all her work is getting forwarded to someone else, and as a result, we have no updates.
But enough excuses. For those of you who cannot wait, I thought I'd put them up here until the actual changes are made on the website.

Welcome to my blog.
I think that's the best opening that I can use, now that I’m a professional blogger. Since I have Alice Cooper coming to the Emerald Queen Casino this October, and one of my favorite albums was "welcome to my nightmare." Somehow, I think the two could be related. It's very possible that my blog could turn into your nightmare.
This weekend marks our 39th show in our Battle at the Boat boxing series at the Emerald Queen Casino. It's a very special weekend for us here at Brian Halquist Productions, as our newest signee, light middleweight Walter Wright, 7-1 (4KO's) will fight his first main event. Walter will be facing Inglewood California's Calvin Odom ,14-7 (10KO's). Odom is a very physical fighter, being 6 foot one, he's lanky and carries a huge knockout punch. Walter will be tested once again as he has in several previous fights (he's fought four undefeated fighters in his short professional career). Walter is definitely in the best shape of his professional career. He has been training with his nutritionist and conditioning coach, David Grissaffe and working every night with his trainer, Mathis Hill. I think we've put together the perfect team for Walter, and we look for big things from him. I don't think there' been a better fighter in the Northwest since Greg Haugen, personally. Of course that is yet to be told, but the way Walter's working, his focus, attitude and drive, I really think we have a world champion in the making. So many Northwest boxing fans have commented on Walter, it's nice to see that we have somebody that is exciting boxing fans around the Northwest. I hope that all the boxing fans in the area will come out and see Walter's first main event and support him this weekend.
That's not to take away from our other fighters at all, as David Torres and Roger Cantrell are both undefeated in their pro careers. Torres will be facing the ever-tough Mike Lucero from Oregon, who seems to be coming into his own as of late. Torres will be going for his 10th straight victory. You can look for David to main-event a fight before the end of the year.
Cantrell will go for his third straight victory as a professional. At 18, Roger is very young, but we are very excited about his prospects in the future.
On a different subject, back to music and Alice Cooper!
The shock rocker who tore apart the Emerald Queen Casino showroom last year, will do so again October 29. Tickets are on sale now, but hurry and get them, as they are selling very quickly.
YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST.
We've singed a deal with Eric Burdon (of the Animals) for November 11 at the EQC. As many of you know, Eric is one of my closest friends and we are excited that he and his wife Maryanna will be staying with us at our house, the week prior to the show. My wife Amy and I always look forward to Eric's trip, it's a vacation for us to have him spend time up here. The kids also get a kick out it. I always get a kick watching a rock and roll hall of famer, playing indoor soccer with my daughter, as well as the usual trouble Eric and I find ourselves in. My son Brad has kind of grown up with Eric around, and I'm not even sure he's aware of Eric's place in rock and roll history, because he's just plain Eric to Brad. If you've never caught an Animals concert, you won't want to miss it. His set list includes all of his greatest hits, including "House of the rising sun," “Don't let me be misunderstood,” “We got to get out of this place,” “Sky pilot,” and the Eric Burdon and War classic, “Spill the wine,” just to name a few.
As some of you may also know, Eric is the "egg man" in John Lennon's Beatle's song "I am the Walrus" you can get the crazy story about it if you pick up Eric's bio "Don't let me be misunderstood" and read for yourself, it’s too scandalous to mention here.
I want to let everyone know you can win tickets on KZOK starting next week and shortly after, tickets will go on sale. You heard it here first.
I know I'm promoting these shows, and it's the promoter's job to hype these shows, but I don't feel like these shows need that much hype .If you're a boxing fan, or sports fan in general, you'll want to be able to say you saw Walter’s first main event some day. He truly is that special, and you can always tell your grandkids "I saw Walter Wright's first main event" it's really that big.
As far as the Animals go, I know that Eric is always considering retiring to work on his painting, so you never know when he'll pull the plug. It could be five or ten years down the road, but you will definitely want to catch a piece of rock and roll history.
And what can I say about Alice Cooper? He said it best when he once said "the first 20 rows of my show will be covered in blood."
So I guess now I've blogged, which all I've really done is sit in my car and talk in the earpiece of my headphone while driving Walter Wright to a KING5 interview, as my ever-faithful employee, Rachel Q. Murphy has done all the typing. I’ll try to say something everyday on this. If you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to email me (us) at RachelQMurphy@hotmail.com as I (we) will get back to you.
I’ve now hyped this weekend’s boxing and two upcoming concerts, but let me do a little more hyping.
CATCH WALTER WRIGHT TONIGHT ON NORTHWEST CABLE NEWS SPORTS SHOW. I also talked to KZOK mid-day guru Gary Crow today, glad to hear he’s doing well. If you want to catch the master of classic rock tune into KZOK ten am to three pm
I hope this finds everybody well.
Peace to all,
BH
